Code of Ethics of the Lithuanian Construction Association (LCA)

 

1. General Provisions

The Code of Ethics of the Lithuanian Construction Association (hereinafter – the Association) is a set of standards of conduct for members of the Association, ensuring proper and honorable relations with clients, the Association, and other partners.

 

2. Objectives and Tasks of the Code of Ethics

 2.1. The purpose of the provisions of the Code of Ethics is to uphold the priority of the honor and dignity of the Association’s members by harnessing the power of ethics, morality, and integrity for the prosperity of Lithuania’s economy. This is implemented by applying ethical standards and their concepts recognized in society. The Code applies to all members of the Association.

 2.2. Guided by ethical and legal norms recognized by the people of Lithuania, the Association seeks to help its members foster democracy, reconcile their own interests with those of clients (customers) and the State, and promote harmony and humane mutual relations.

 2.3. The Association declares that the status of a member of the Association obliges each member to regard the interests of Lithuanian society and the State as higher values than economic, group, personal, or political interests.

 2.4. In accordance with ethical norms and legal acts of Lithuania, the Association, where necessary, undertakes to analyze and assess the conduct of its members (their managers or authorized representatives).

 2.5. The Association declares that it is a matter of honor for its members to conclude business contracts with clients (buyers, recipients) only lawfully and in good faith, to properly fulfill contractual obligations by applying the latest achievements in science and technology, and to take into account the interests of contractual partners and society.

 2.6. Members affirm that lawful, fair, and sincere competition is essential to promote business, improve the quality of services, products, and works, and reduce prices; therefore, they undertake to comply unconditionally with the requirements of competition law.

 2.7. Members must ensure occupational safety, labor protection, and compliance with work safety, industrial sanitation, and hygiene regulations.

 2.8. Members shall seek to ensure that no damage is caused to contractual partners or third parties during the execution of works and shall not violate environmental protection laws.

 2.9. The Association affirms that it is a matter of honor for its members to comply with the requirements of the Law on Construction and Construction Technical Regulations.

 2.10. The primary task of members is to guarantee that clients (buyers, recipients) and business partners are treated politely and professionally, as they deserve.

 

3. Responsibility

 3.1. Violations of the provisions of the Code of Ethics by members of the Association shall be examined by the Association’s Ethics Commission.

 3.2. For violations of the Code of Ethics, the following sanctions may be imposed on a member by decision of the Ethics Commission:

 - warning;

 - reprimand;

 - recommendation to the Presidium of the Association to expel the member from the Association (in accordance with the procedure established by the Statutes).

 3.3. Meetings of the Ethics Commission at which members are examined for violations shall be conducted in accordance with the procedure established by the Commission, on the initiative of members of the Presidium or members of the Association.

 3.4. Decisions of the Ethics Commission may be appealed to the Presidium of the Association within ten days from the date of adoption of the decision.
